FLF Sponsors Fall for the Book Headliner Brit Bennett

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

The Fairfax Library Foundation was proud to sponsor “A Conversation with Brit Bennett” , a headlining event at this year’s Fall for the Book festival.

During the event—held virtually on October 21 via Crowdcast—Bennett discussed her New York Times bestselling novel The Vanishing Half. The novel is about identical twin sisters, inseparable as children, who choose to live drastically different lives: one as white and one as black. Bennett and moderator Lisa Page discussed her writing process, the inspirations for her characters, and how her life has changed in the wake of the overwhelming critical reception of the book. Bennett also revealed HBO has acquired the rights to develop a miniseries based on the novel.

A rebroadcast of the conversation is available for a limited time on YouTube.

Fall for the Book is an independent non-profit literary arts organization based at George Mason University that promotes reading by sponsoring a variety of year-round events and activities, the flagship of which is the Fall for the Book festival held each October.
