FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA – The Fairfax Library Foundation (FLF) welcomed its 2020-2021 Board of Directors on July 1, 2020.
New to the Board is Ms. Yolanda Atkins, a retired Fairfax County Public Schools teacher and current president of the Friends of Pohick Regional Library. Ms. Atkins was previously involved with the Foundation as a member of the Scholarship Committee before her appointment as chair of the 2020 Jubilee Committee.
"When we support...the Fairfax Library Foundation, we provide a wonderful avenue that opens opportunities and experiences throughout the entire Fairfax County Public Library community," said Atkins.
Due to COVID-19, both the Foundation and the Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) have had to shift priorities while still maintaining high-quality programming for all Fairfax County residents. The coming year brings many unknowns, however FLF will reassess and adopt a new multi-month plan of revised development and fundraising action strategies for growth, in line with FCPL's strategic priorities.
Additionally, the Foundation offers heartfelt gratitude to outgoing board members Ilyse Gart, Duwain Ketch, and Frank Whittington for their passion, dedication, and service to FLF and FCPL. All three former board members will continue their involvement with the Foundation as members of their respective committees.
The 2020-2021 Board of Directors will serve from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. The current Board includes Chair Patty Reed, Vice Chair Mary Jo Patterson, Treasurer Mike Cullen, and Secretary George Croft. The full Board of Directors can be viewed on the Foundation’s website here.
