Jubilee Guest Author Announcement
Announcing NYT Bestselling Author Linda Castillo as Special Guest for 2016 Library Jubilee!
Fairfax, VA – Fairfax Library Foundation is pleased to announce that the special guest for our 2016 Library Jubilee fundraiser will be New York Times Bestselling author Linda Castillo. She writes mysteries and thrillers, including the popular Kate Burkholder series – crime thrillers set in Amish country. The eighth book in this series, AMONG THE WICKED, was published July 12, 2016. Castillo has published more than two dozen works, and has received industry honors including the Daphne du Maurier Award of Excellence, the Holt Medallion, and a nomination for the Rita. Her bestseller SWORN TO SILENCE was adapted into a Lifetime Original Movie starring Neve Campbell.
Castillo will be the guest of honor at the Library Jubilee on October 15, 2016 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Dolley Madison Library in McLean, Virginia. This is our largest fundraising event each year, with 100% of proceeds invested into Fairfax County Public Library. Some of the programs supported by the Library Jubilee include Changing Lives Through Literature, giving first time juvenile offenders an alternative to formal court action, and Ready to Read Early Literacy Outreach, bringing interactive reading experiences to preschool students.
“Linda is a terrific writer! Her thrillers are wildly popular, plus she is so supportive of libraries and loves connecting with her readers whenever possible,” says Ted Kavich, Program & Educational Services Manager for Fairfax County Public Library. “We’re delighted to welcome her to Fairfax County this fall.” Castillo will give the keynote speech at the Jubilee – more details will follow. Each year at this fundraiser gala guests celebrate the work of the Foundation while meeting other library lovers, including elected officials, library staff and administration, business leaders, and other distinguished guests. Attendees enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, musical entertainment, and a silent auction. This year a planning committee is already at working refining details, to make the event more exciting than ever.
The Library Jubilee is made possible by the generosity of many sponsors. We are launching an updated year-long sponsorship program, with new opportunities for exposure in the community – including complimentary invitations and acknowledgement at the Jubilee. In addition to the programs mentioned above, support of this event provides funding for Scholarships, the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge, Presentations, and Materials, such as books and eBooks.
We hope you will join us for the Library Jubilee and help Fairfax County Public Library expand its reach to children and adults in every corner of our community. For more information on sponsorships and how to be involved, please contact Abigail Fine at 703-324-8300.
