Fairfax Library Foundation Hosting Barnes & Noble Bookfair Fundraiser on April 15 in Celebration of National Library Week

Fairfax, VA – Fairfax Library Foundation is partnering with Barnes & Noble, local press Curiosity Quills, and eight local authors for a Bookfair fundraiser supporting Fairfax County Public Library. The Bookfair will be held on April 15, 2017 at the Fairfax Barnes & Noble in Fair Lakes from 11am-5pm. We are celebrating National Library Week, April 9-15. There will be library supporters at the store all day, with special activities for visitors. Barnes & Noble will donate 10% (or more!) of all purchases made by library supporters that day—and the five days after online—to Fairfax Library Foundation. Our special code for earning donations is 12092839—be sure to present it at checkout in-store or online!

Throughout the day there will be Children’s activities, book signings with special guest authors, a National Library Week pledge, and a balloon artist. It will be a great opportunity to shop for upcoming spring events while giving back to the library, at no extra cost to you!

Our special guests include local children’s authors Kevin Sherry and Alissa Buoni, who will host storytimes and book signings. For adults and young adults, we have six local authors from Curiosity Quills Press stopping by to greet guests and sign books: Marianne Kirby, Michael Shean, Keith Fentonmiller, Adriana Arrington, JP Sloan and Courtney Sloan. A professional balloon artist will visit the Children’s department from 12pm-2pm. Please visit our Bookfair page for the full schedule.

All money raised goes to the programs and services of Fairfax County Public Library that Fairfax Library Foundation supports, including Ready to Read Early Literacy Outreach, providing story times and picture books to preschoolers in Fairfax County; Changing Lives Through Literature, offering first time juvenile offenders an alternative to formal court action; Presentations like the Summer Reading Program; Scholarships to library employees and volunteers, so the staff may better serve the community; and Books and Materials for the library collection. The Foundation is now supporting The New American Initiative to raise funds to purchase new English Language Learning materials for our immigrant neighbors. With the tightening of public funds for the library, and growing demands, it is more important now than ever before to raise community support for our libraries.

We hope Fairfax County residents will stop by the Barnes & Noble Fairfax on April 15 to say hello, share in our love of books, and support our library and our community.
