Summer 2010 Internship Opportunity via the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program
The Fairfax Library Foundation seeks a Summer Reading Program Assistant to coordinate reading program materials with library branch staff, outside agencies, sponsors, etc. In addition the Assistant will promote early literacy by presenting programs at library branches and in the community. The intern will work directly with children and caregivers.
Internship Activities:
- Assist with promotion and distribution of the Fairfax County Public Library's Summer Reading Program materials.
- Plan and present early literacy story times at libraries and in child care centers.
- Prepare program kits for use by library staff.

To apply, you must be:
- Experienced working with children.
- Interested in books and committed to increasing the literacy of at-risk children.
- Available for 35 hours per week for eight weeks. Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required.
- Currently enrolled and returning to college as a full time undergraduate student in Fall, 2010.
- Familiar with and have a basic knowledge of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Over 18 and have a valid driver’s license and car.
- * Spanish language skills are preferred
