Art in the Pages Final Reception

The final reception and auction showcasing local talent through Art in the Pages, the first public art sculpture initiative throughout Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax, was held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the spectacular Gannett headquarters in McLean.

Local artists, community leaders, sponsors, and representatives of the Fairfax County Public Library and the Fairfax Library Foundation had the opportunity to view and bid on artistically decorated mini 5” high miniature statuettes. Doug Brammer of Verizon, the project’s Signature Sponsor, joined FXVA President, Barry Biggar and artist Denise Hooe to unveil the full scale sculpture that will travel throughout Fairfax County. A jazz quartet from George Mason University that was led by Jim Carroll set the festive ambiance.

Silent auction proceeds benefit Fairfax County Public Library programs and services, such as live online Homework Help, the popular Summer Reading Program, the Friends Scholarship Fund and more funded by the Fairfax Library Foundation.
