Lisa Maxwell at 1pm

Stop by between 1 – 2 pm to meet Lisa Maxwell, local author of Young Adult books. She’ll be signing books and chatting with shoppers!

Lisa Maxwell is the New York Times Best-Selling author of The Last Magician. The book is being translated into six languages and has been sold in eight territories. Her other books include the award-winning Unhooked, as well as the critically acclaimed Sweet Unrest and Gathering Deep.  She has a PhD in English and currently is a professor at a community college outside of D.C.  She has a soft spot for loud music and fast cars, so when she’s not teaching or writing, you can probably find her catching a live band or going on adventures with her husband and two boys in the Challenger she named Viola.

On The Last Magician: “A gorgeous, timeless, all-consuming tale.” –New York Times bestseller Wendy Higgins

123 Andrés Performs at 2pm

123 Andrés is one of the area’s most popular performers for children and Latin Grammy winner! You don’t want to miss his performance at 2pm!

“123 Andrés is a rock star for little language learners.” – Billboard

Andrés Salguero, better known as 123 Andrés, is one of the most exciting new voices on the family music scene in the US and Latin America. A native of Bogotá, Colombia, Andrés brings to audiences joyful sounds, passion for bilingualism and a high-energy love of music that gets kids singing and dancing in Spanish and English.

His most recent album entitled Arriba Abajo, won the Latin Grammy for best children’s album in 2016 as well as the Parent’s Choice Gold Award. His Latin-Grammy nominated debut album, ¡Uno, Dos, Tres Andrés en español y en inglés!, and was hailed by the Boston Globe: “His joyous new album… hopscotches around the Spanish-speaking world, seamlessly switching from bachata and bolero to mariachi and vallenato.”

Balloon Art from 12pm – 2pm

Dream Face Art will be back again, creating whimsical balloon creatures, by request, in the Children’s Department. This was a huge hit last Bookfair, so we’re thrilled to have this artist back again!

April 15 Bookfair was a big success!

Our most recent Bookfair was Saturday, April 15 at Barnes & Noble Fairfax! We raised funds and friends for Fairfax County Public Library, in celebration of National Library Week!

Fairfax Library Foundation’s Barnes & Noble Bookfair is an easy way to support the library! 10% (or more!) of your purchase will be donated back to the Foundation. 100% of funds raised support programs and services of Fairfax County Public Library! Purchases in the B&N café count towards the fundraiser, too, as do toys & games, gifts, music, DVDS (and everything except for NOOK-related products)!

So Many Shopping Opportunities at the Bookfair!

cheesecake_factory_harry_davidThe Barnes & Noble Bookfair is not just about buying books to raise money for the library. Did you know you can purchase a Cheesecake Factory frozen cheesecake for $35 (approximate price) and that goes towards the fundraiser, too? It’s a great way to get a delicious dessert ready for your next partyand so easy! Read all about the B&N café offerings.

Our Inaugural Bookfair

On April 30th, 2016, Fairfax Library Foundation held its inaugural Bookfair Fundraiser at Barnes & Noble Fairfax, in order to raise support for Fairfax County Public Library. The Foundation is grateful for all the library supporters, special guests, volunteers and Barnes & Noble staff for making this event a huge success. You can read a wrap-up of the event here.
